There are times when the average computer user will stumble upon a file format that they do not recognize or cannot be opened for some reason or another. This can happen when a user is installing new program or removing an old one, or if the user decides to delete unwanted data and encounters a file that they may be afraid to remove. Some of these odd file formats are usually hidden from the view of the average computer user, since these files are only used by that particular program or are important system files that play a large role in the operation of the system itself.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my computer started to experience random freezes, I just used Regtask and now it works normally again.

My computer is 5 years old and runs extremely slow now. I was a bit sceptical about using Regtask, but just decided to give it a shot in the end and it worked out fantastically for me.

More Info Regarding File Extension Dmg
The dmg file extension is a file format that essentially represents the contents and file structure of a data storage medium or device such as a hard drive, CD or DVD. Further simplified, it is a sector by sector copy of an actual physical disk. Overall, disk images were used for backup and cloning of media where the exact replication of the storage structure was efficient and important. The dmg format and other similar file formats are important for backing up information, since the average backup program only backs up the files it can access. If an important file, such as one containing boot information, is locked up by the operating system due to security reasons or the fact that it is currently being used by the operating system at that time, the backup may very well be rendered useless. Disk images circumvent this problem by creating a faithful replication of all of the data located on the physical disk.
The dmg file extension is a proprietary format that is used by Apple's OSX operating system, commonly referred to as “Macintosh” or “Mac” for short. Within this operating system, the dmg file behaves as an actual physical disk. The dmg file format is very similar to the iso file format that is used in the Microsoft Windows operating system. The dmg file extension's proprietary format means that the average user cannot port the format in its entirety over to a computer that is running the Windows operating system. Users of the Windows operation system are also unable to view the contents of the dmg file format. This is largely because the OSX operating system uses a file structure known as HFS+, which is incompatible with the Microsoft Windows operating system. Software manufacturers will tend to distribute their products in an exe file format for the Microsoft Windows operating system and in a dmg file format for the Macintosh. The dmg file format will sometimes be packaged inside of a ZIP or a bzip2 archive file. This is done to prevent the user from accidentally opening the dmg file inside of their web browser while attempting to download the file. This also saves the user the trouble of having to use a control-click or a “right click/save as” workaround in order to download the file without any problems.
There are a number of programs that have been created for the purpose of converting the dmg file format into a format that can be read and used by the Microsoft Windows operating system. DMG2ISO and Daemon Tools are two programs capable of such a conversion. On the Apple OSX operating system, dmg files can be created by using the Disk Utility program that can be found in versions 10.3 through 10.5 of the OSX operating system. Users of earlier systems can create dmg files by using the Disk Copy utility. These programs also utilize the dmg file format for burning CDs and DVDs. Another way that a user can manage the dmg file format is through the “hdiutil” utility that can be accessed via the command line in the OSX operating system.
